I thank you for that. Let me finish by adding just a couple of more words...
I met a lot of people in Cuba. Many in search of dollars, some just happy to show me around and let me decide whether or not I would like to reward them for it. Some people were just glad to get a lift in my car; many overcame their natural, disarming shyness and asked me how I liked Cuba, the country and its people, and lots more. Some people have shared with me the story of their life. I believe that in my first five days I already came close enough to everyday life to be able to have an opinion about it. I admire these people who have little but still want to share, who keep their dignity under difficult conditions, who use whatever is available and are able to make something new out of it.
Maybe you have read this story out of plain curiosity. Maybe you like travel stories and try to imagine what life in other countries is like. Maybe you have plans to go to Cuba and are preparing yourself by reading stuff like this - for which purpose the Internet is like a gift from heaven, by the way. Whatever your motivation, I do hope you have enjoyed reading it and my greatest pleasure would be when this particular story is the one that persuades you to go there yourself.
Chau Cuba, espero verte pronto.
